Gabriel Alberto Azucena is better known in the Christian hip-hop scene as GAWVI. He started in 2008 as a music producer for notable artists like Lecrae and Trip Lee, who still collaborate with him on a consistent base. His newest single “Hope You Say” has just been released. Will he introduce a refreshing new sound in Christian music with this one?
When we speak about relatively young, but impactful music careers in Christian music, GAWVI is one of those artists that easily come to mind. With only being active for just over one decade in the Christian hip-hop scene, he has been a consistent music producer for notable names like Lecrae and Trip Lee. He still collaborates with them on a regular basis, but along the way he started out as an artist by himself at Reach Records.
In 2016 he debuted with his extended play “Lost in Hue,” which quickly topped the iTunes top-selling dance album chart. His success only continued in 2017 when his first studio album “We Belong” debuted at No. 19 in iTunes. Furthermore, as a music producer he has won multiple Dove Awards, like for Trip Lee’s album “The Waiting Room” in 2017.
GAWVI has now released his newest single “Hope You Say,” which introduces easy “chill-hop” vibes into the Christian hip-hop scene in a very appealing way that seems quite unique. Is he onto something? Listen to “GAWVI” on Maasbach Radio, Spotify and iTunes.← BackNext →
