One of the hardest things to do in the music industry is staying relevant over several decades. This is something that definitely succeeded for Newsboys. Since their start in 1985 they’ve managed to find a sound that still sounds modern for today’s standards. Will their newest single “Greatness of our God” announce a new period of success for the band?
In all these years they have produced 17 studio albums, from which 6 are even certified as “gold.” They are also heavily involved with the, from the film franchise derived, “God is Not Dead” missions. Next to that, the band is also involved in Christian charity work like the “If 7:14” project and “Childfund International.”
It all started with two schoolmates: Peter Furler and George Perdikis. They’d started the band with two other teens under the name “The News,” which they quickly renamed it to “Newsboys.”
After 12 years of success with the band, Peter Furler announced in 2009 that he would step down as their lead vocalist. However, he would still stay their primary producer and songwriter. This led to the introduction of Michael Tait, the former lead vocalist of “DC Talk,” in the band. This would become the beginning of another phase of great success with lots of nominations.
Their latest single “Greatness of our God” has now been released, and it even features the reintroduction of Peter Furler as lead vocalist next to Michael Tait! Listen to “Newsboys” now on Maasbach Radio, Spotify and ITunes.← BackNext →
