If you love hearing about what God is doing in lives all over the world, you don’t want to miss Tasha Layton’s testimony. There aren’t many Christian pop-artists in the world that totally turned their backs on God and the church before becoming famous. Tasha Layton did, but praise God… she returned to God after a long journey in her life and became a chart-ranking Christian artist.
Tasha Layton grew up in a small town in South Carolina where she devoutly attended church. In the teen years of her life, she began to sing in church and even led worship at her youth group. She was ignited to combine her love for music and God, but unfortunately, her church experienced a painful split. This also left a painful imprint in Tasha Layton, which heavily influenced her life. At a certain point in her life, she even left the church altogether with a confused heart.
She took these feelings with her as she continued onto college, which eventually resulted in depression. To the point that she even considered suicide. It was at this moment that she began searching for God again. She switched her major from music to religions to start her journey back to God. During her search for God, Tasha even went to Buddhist meditation camps and mosques, but found the One true God when she once again came to Jesus: “I realized in all these other religions you had to strive to pursue God; whereas, in Christianity, He is chasing after us.”
From that moment on, Tasha’s life took a rapid turn into the truth of God. She went to seminary and started leading worship again. She successfully attended American Idol, where she met the right people for musical success. She even married Grammy and Dove Award-winning producer Keith Everette Smith.
