2020 is definitely a different kind of year! A lockdown due to one of the most severe pandemics in the last century has hit many nations around the world in a lockdown. It also introduced us to social distancing, which is especially hard around these times when a new global awareness is rising for the equality for all humans of every ethnicity. Songs like ‘Together’ are a great example of creative collaborations that are particularly inspiring for our current situation in the world.
Christian music industry heavy-hitters ‘For King & Country’, ‘Tori Kelly’, and ‘Kirk Franklin’ have come together for a collaboration for their newest song ‘Together’. Inspired by the global consequences of social distancing and the lockdown due to a global pandemic, these artists are encouraging us to not give up and to remember that we are all in this together.
This theme is particularly striking in light of the current circumstances of rising global awareness for equality of every ethnicity. It’s really inspiring to see that it doesn’t matter who you are and what your background is, we are all equal and wonderfully made after the image of a perfect God.
Pastor David Maasbach mentioned this exact point in the sermon ‘Black Lives Matter’. “All humans are created from flesh and blood, therefore we all feel the same pain when we are hit by a hammer. We all feel the same hunger when we have no food, the same thirst when we have nothing to drink. The same shame when we are humiliated.”
